ELDERFLOWER MARTINI RECIPE

Recently my friend introduced me to an elderflower martini at a restaurant. It was love at first sip! I had never had elderflower liquor before but this fragrant martini was unlike any other I had tried before. We immediately went to the store to gather up ingredients in hopes of recreating this masterpiece! After a few tries, we came up with the perfect mixture.

If you've never had elderflower liquor before, it's a must try! It's made from the white flowers that grow on the elderflower bush. It has a slight floral flavor and is bright and fragrant. It's the perfect addition to a martini. If you are looking for a cocktail recipe to really impress your guests, this is it! We used St. Germain elderflower liquor which is one of the most popular brands. It comes in a really pretty decorative bottle. The liquor itself is a light yellow color and is thick and sweet. We've found that you don't need a sweetener when using this liquor, it's just sweet enough to add a little sweetness to your cocktails without being overpowering.

As you can see in the picture above, my bottle of elderflower liquor is down to the bottom. We've made these martinis on several occasions, they are that good! To get started we gathered up all of our ingredients and prepped the fruit by cutting it. This martini recipe includes vodka, fresh lime juice, cranberry juice, an orange for garnish, and of course the elderflower liquor (the star of the show). This cocktail has a similar base to a cosmo martini and at first glance looks a lot like it, but don't let that fool you! The elderflower completely changes the flavor. In all honesty, I don't love cosmos... I think I had too many in my college days. This is an elegant and different spin on them. Just combine all of your ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. We used the orange slice to garnish it.

Below you can find our recipe! It makes one martini. As good as this cocktail is to drink, one of the best parts is eating the martini soaked orange afterwards... yum!

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons elderflower liquor (we used St. Germain)
  • 3 Tablespoons cranberry juice
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • About 1/4 cup of Vodka (we measured right under the 1/4 cup mark and found it to be the perfect amount)
  • an orange for garnish

Directions:

  1. Cut your limes in half to juice them and cut your orange slices for a garnish
  2. Squeeze your lime to get 1 tablespoon
  3. Pour all ingredients except for the orange slice into a shaker with ice
  4. Shake vigorously to mix and chill them
  5. Pour into your martini glass and garnish with the orange slice
  6. ENJOY!

If you make this recipe, let us know what you think! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
